What is MPEG?
MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) is a working group under International Standard Organization (ISO) in charge of working out the standards relevant to moving picture compact code. The Group developed an internationally accepted standard, that is, MPEG standard, which is composed of three parts: video, audio and system.

What is stereo?
Stereo occupies two independent channels; the left channel is for recording accompanying sound or accompaniment, while the right channel is for recording accompaniment of accompanying sound. When enjoying Karaoke, we can select CH+/-key to select from left, right or stereo.

What is a linear PCM?
PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), means that analog audio signal is only sampled and modulated into PCM signal without coding and compressing process. The sampling frequency of linear PCM of ordinary CD is 44.1 kHz, and the quantizing precision is 16bit, the dynamic scope is 98 dB. But the quantizing precision of linear PCM of DVD are 16bit, 20bit and 24bit, and its sampling frequency can be 48kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz, the dynamic scope may reach 114dB, and its voice fidelity is much higher and expressive force much stronger.

What is Dolby Pro Logic Surround sound?
It is the second generation of Dolby Surround sound system developed by American Dolby laboratory with four independent channels, i.e. L, R, C and S. Through t Dolby Pro Logic coding it is compressed to dual channels of LT and RT and is recorded in the carrier. When replayed, it will be reverted into four channels by the Dolby Pro Logic decoder. Because the surround sound system is cheap in its cost, and rich of program sources and features good sound field positioning and live sense, it is applied widely.

What is Dolby Digital Surround Sound AC-3?
Dolby Digital (AC-3) is a fully digital audio coding mode developed by American Dolby laboratory. It provides 5 completely separate channels of the full frequency domain between 3Hz~20kHz, including the main left and right channels, mid-positioned track and post-positioned left and right surround channels. The biggest difference with the Dolby Pro-Logic is that the post-positioned left and right surround channels are stereo track, and each track has a full frequency domain. Moreover, in order to strengthen the sound effects of subwoofer, a low frequency effect channel is set (commonly named 0.1 track). This type of amplifier belongs to medium surround power amplifier.

What is DTS (Digital Theater System) surround system?
DTS is a digital theater system jointly developed by American DTS Co. and Universal Picture Co Similar to Dolby Digital; it is also a multi-channel applying compress coding technology. The compressing mode of CAC (Coherent Acoustics Coding) framework that DTS applies varies with that of the Dolby Digital. Its typical compressing rate is 3:1, which is only 1/4 of that of Dolby Digital, with less original signals lost, so it keeps richer exquisite signals in the original sound field. The 96KHz sampling frequency of DTS is one time more than 48KHz of Dolby Digital, and the top bit rate is 24 bit.

What is linear PCM audio frequency?
PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) means the simulated audio frequency has only been sampled, and modulated into PCM signal without any coding and compressing processes. The sampling frequency of linear PCM of ordinary CD is 44.1kHz, and the quantizing precision is 16bit, the dynamic scope is 98db, while quantizing precision of linear PCM of DVD are 16bit, 20bit, 24bit, and the sampling frequencies are 48kHz and 96kHz respectively, and the dynamic scope may reach 114dB with a higher fidelity and stronger expressive force.

What is 5.1 channel?
Both AC-3 and DTS have six completely independent channels, including five channels of left, right, middle, left surround and right surround and, one subwoofer channel, whose bandwidth has only the sound of 20HZ~120HZ and whose frequency band is only 1/10 of other channels, so it is called 0.1channel. The other five channels are all 20HZ~20KHZ full frequency band, so if added they are called 5.1 channel.

What is ZiVA decoding technology?
ZiVA decoding technology is a new generation of MPEG II audio-video frequency decoding technology developed by American C-Cube Inc..

What is PDVD (Progressive DVD)?
PDVD is also called Progressive DVD, which outputs progressive video signals and displays one frame of image by the sequence of (1, 2, 3 i) line by line on the TV. So it overcomes great area of flickering by interlace. The image is finer and more stable, and the eyes don't tend to fatigue for watching long.

What is RF output terminal?
RF output terminal is also called Radio Frequency output terminal, by which the audio and video signals are sent after being modulated. Its defect is that the interfering audio and video signals affect the resolution. In order to solve the problem, the video output method comes forth.

What is video output terminal?
It is also called AV output terminal, by which the video and audio signals are sent separately, and the mutual interference of the video and audio signals is improved and the resolution improved in a certain extent. In order to improve the resolution better, S output method comes forth.

What is S output terminal?
S output terminal is a dedicated output for the video signals. S output terminal is an interface of 5 cores, among which two is for transmitting the video brightness signal, two for color signal and one for the public shielding earthing. Due to the cut of integrating, coding and synthesizing of the image signal Y and color signal C and the input switch and matrix decoding inside the TV set, the mutual interference of the color and brightness signals composite output is prevented effectively and the resolution of the images improved. Along with the continuous improvement of the technology, the YCbCr output method comes forth.

What is YCbCr output terminal?
YCbCr terminal is also called color difference signal output terminal, and can be divided into Y, Cb, Cr terminals. It sends the blue and red color difference separately, and the definition is much improved, but people are not satisfied with it, so the progressive DVD comes forth to meet our requirements.

What is YPbPr output terminal?
It adopts video difference output method, and it sends blue and red color differences separately from the color signal.

What is VGA output terminal?
VGA (Video Graphic Array) output terminal adopts a progressive output method, that is, Video Graphic Array. It is a computer display interface; the VGA output terminal contains the signals of three primary colors of red, green and blue and the HS and VS signals.

What is the format of HDCD disc?
HDCD (High Resolution Compatible Digital) disc is an HDCD technology developed by the Pacific Microsonics Inc. in California, USA.

What is zoom?
Amplify the very small picture by zooming so as to watch definitely. (available when with disc support)

What is angle?
Watch the images in different angles to reach different visual effects. (available when with disc support)

What is multi-language?
To adapt to the language requirements in different countries so as to understand the plots. (Available when with disc support)

What is multi-caption?
To adapt to the character requirements in different countries so as to understand the plots. (Available when with disc support)

What is multi-image?
To adapt to the TV set with different screen scale so that the buyer has more more options in purchasing a TV set. (Available when with disc support)

What is screen saver?
When no video signal is displayed in the DVD, the screen saver will activate automatically, and the fluorescence screen will luster evenly to save the life span of TV set.
